Birth Control - Progestogen Only Pill

Progestogen Only Pill or POP is a hormonal form of birth control containing synthetic progestogens, they do not contan estrogen or progesterone, they are also known as mini pills. POP prevents ovulation, depending on the dose. POP does not prevent STD/STI's.

How Reliable Is It?

With perfect use the rate is 99.5% effective.

With typical use the rate is 92% effective.

How Does It Work?

POP pills are taken at the same time every day, but only have a 3 hour window before they become less effective. You take the pills continuously without any breaks, unlike the regular pill.

POP is recommended over the regular pill for breastfeeding as it will not affect milk production.
