Who Is At Risk For Breast Cancer?


Technically all people are at risk for breast cancer, men and women. However there are some reasons why some people may be more at risk than other. Just because you might have many risk factors doesn't mean your going to get breast cancer. But you should pay attention to your body and be healthy.

  • Being a woman, because they have more breast cells
  • Those with breast cancer in the family
  • Women who have never had children or have them later in life
  • Women who don't breast feed
  • Women with larger breasts
  • Women 55 and older
  • Certain genetics and DNA, you should get genetic testing if your worried
  • Race and ethnicity, Caucasian women seem to have the highest risk
  • Women with dense breast tissue, which also makes it harder to find the cancer
  • Those who have benign breast conditions
  • Women who started their menstrual cycles earlier (12 yrs old)
  • Women who went into menopause later in life (55 or older)
  • Those who have had previous chest radiation therapy
  • Women who use oral contraceptives
  • Women using post menopausal hormonal therapy
  • Alcohol
  • Obesity
  • High Fat Diets
