Dating

Dating is not an easy thing to do. Most of us wish there was a manual to go with it. While there is no fool proof manual, this is as close as it gets.

Date Ideas

Dinner and a movie….has it gotten a little old? Or maybe we just need to spice it up a bit. Here are some date ideas you can go on, regardless of what stage you are in the relationship, and hopefully it won’t be the repetitive same-old.

Looking for Valentines Date ideas for you, your girls or your man?

Dinner

You can spend a whole evening at a restaurant, you just need to pick the right one. Be adventurous and pick something you wouldn’t normally pick. This will give you something to talk about and you can sample each others food.

Consider these types of restaurants:

  • Sushi
  • Japanese
  • Thai
  • East Indian
  • Burmese
  • Vietnamese
  • Chinese
  • Greek
  • Cajun
  • Seafood
  • Mediterranean
  • Mexican
  • French
  • A Themed Restaurant
  • Something Spicy
  • Something Very Fancy

OR randomly pick something out of a phonebook without looking! You never know what you’ll get.

You can also order in from most restaurants, try something you’ve never tried before.

OR try cooking something yourself! Something new, put the mac n cheese away, you’re going to look up a fun new recipe on line.

Dinner and a Movie

But it’s so cliche! Yes but it is still an easy and classic choice for most people. Going to a movie allows you to be entertained and silent, after the movie you have something to talk about. But don’t rely on that for every date!

You can go to any of the above restaurants or your fav restaurant.

If it isn’t your first date, maybe go to a movie you both wouldn’t have originally picked. Or compromise, this time his movie, next time your movie.

If this is a new relationship avoid the chick flicks. Try to watch something you can both enjoy, a comedy or a light action flick. Perhaps you want to hang onto your new mans arm, try a horror flick.

Alternatively you could always order in from one of the above types of restaurants and rent a movie of the same flavor or ethnicity, you can learn about culture and enjoy the cuisine at the same time!

And don’t forget you don’t HAVE to go to a movie, you could also go to a play or the opera.

Galleries

Not everyone likes art galleries, but go try something new, you will learn more about the person you are with and expose you to something new. Just make sure you pick an exhibit you will enjoy, if you don’t like landscape paintings don’t go to the landscape show.

Gallery openings can be really fun events, they usually have them every time a new show begins. You can possibly meet the artists, have some free food and an enjoyable evening. And you can dress up a bit depending on the show it is.

Music Events

Whether it’s a concert or a musician at a pub, everyone can enjoy music. If your fav band is coming through, why not take your date and show them what you like. If they hate your music, compromise and go to a local music event that you may not have otherwise.

Check and see when your local music festivals are. They are usually a lot of fun and there’s a variety of music!

The Weekend Getaway

I don’t recommend the weekend getaway right away, it can be very stressful but fun, it will teach you a lot about your partner. If it’s a new relationship you could ruin it before you get started.

Some Weekend Getaway Ideas:

  • Camping
  • Bed and Breakfast
  • Stay in your city and getaway to a hotel!
  • Road Trip
  • Mini Cruise
  • Wineries
  • Hit the Slopes or the Slides
  • Spa Weekend Getaway
  • Fishing
  • The Ranch, try horseback riding
  • The Casino

Summer Activities

Take a look at your local activities, there are probably lots of things to do. Concerts, fairs, festivals and so much more, just keep your eyes open for new things to do.

Going for Walks

Going for a walk isn’t a date! It probably isn’t a whole date, but it is something you can definitely do. Pick a nice place to walk, near a river/lake, waterfall, park, nice neighbourhood. It gives you a chance to enjoy nature and to just talk.

Spend the Night In

Spending the night in can be just as fun as going out! You just have to find a way to entertain yourselves…

Go for romance, try that candle lit dinner, cuddling by the fire. As lovey dovey as it sounds it can be really nice for a couple.

Try games, yes board games, go to the store or the sex store, there are a lot of fun new games out there, and they are anything but boring!

Cook together, you can try making something fun, like sushi!

Sports

Go to a sporting event or go play sports together! But if you are watching a game, don’t chat for the sake of chatting, most guys want to watch the game!

Take a Class

School? On a Date? Seriously? No really, this can be a lot of fun! Obviously you aren’t going to go back to high school, but look at your local classes being offered, see if you find something you both want to try.

Maybe Something Like:

  • A Cooking Class
  • Pottery
  • Art Class
  • Dance Class
  • Glass Blowing
  • A Hobby Class
  • Scrap Booking
  • Massage Class
  • Yoga or Meditation
  • Self Defense
  • Rock Climbing
  • Fencing
  • A Sport You’ve Never Tried
  • Something Adventurous, Like Bungee Jumping or Sky Diving
  • An Adult Class, Like Penis Pleasing or Orgasm Classes or Pleasure for Her (visit your local sex shop for info)
  • A Religious Class
  • Take a Second Language
  • Writing Class
  • Photography Class
  • Anything else you can think of!

Other Dates

I have this section for the odd or unusual dates. You may need to find out if any of these events are coming to your area.

  • The Circus
  • A Freak Show
  • Hypnotist
  • The Fair
  • Magician/Illusionist

Double Date

You can do any of the mentioned dates on a double date! Adding another couple into the mix can be fun and can take some of the pressure off of you. Just make sure you pick the type of couple both of you can get along with and have a good time.

Past the Dating Stage

When the dating comes to a finish…wait a second, the dating should never end! I don’t care if you’ve been in the relationship for 2 years or 20 years, you have to keep going on dates.

Why? This will help keep your relationship fresh and more fun. You don’t want the romance to die do you? What do you do when you begin a relationship? You date. Later down the road when you’re comfortable and in a groove with each other, guess what, the sparks start to die, why because you stopped going on dates.
You have kids, is that your excuse? Get a sitter, a family member or a friend, it is vital that you go out on a date with your spouse at least once a month. Do it now, pick a day of the month that you guys will always go on a date. Most couples get so run down with having kids they are tired and disconnected from their spouse, having a date night will help you have alone time with your spouse, it can rekindle the romance.
