Halitosis (bad Breath) can actually be due to cyclical changes induced by hormone fluctuations. Not only are you miserable with uterine cramping and the nagging problem of changing tampons and pads, but you can now add bad breath to the miseries of the monthly menses.
Bad breath rears it’s ugly head twice during your cycle; once during ovulation and again during menstruation. Around ovulation, a rise in estrogen triggers shedding of the body’s soft tissues, including those of the mouth. This increases the amount of debris that bacteria in the mouth can feast on. The more they feast, the worse your breath. Bacteria or oral flora break down food particles and shed cells into certain sulfur containing compounds that cause your fetor oris (Latin for fetid mouth).

The longer the debris sits in the mouth, the longer the bacteria have to work, and the stronger the odor. (Smell your dental floss one day if you don’t believe me – especially if you haven’t flossed lately.) This is the reason why your breath doesn’t smell like a bed of roses in the morning. Bacteria do most of their work at night and you’re not chewing or talking or allowing saliva to wash over the teeth and rid the mouth of debris.

In the U.S., Orientals have the highest rate of fraternal twins with one in 40 births; Caucasians have the lowest with one in 100; and African Americans fall in between with one in 77. The highest fraternal twinning rate is in Nigeria – one set of twins in every 20 births.
More women are having twins these days due to the fact that they are having babies later in life. In 1986, 21.6 of every 1000 babies were twins, as compared to 1980, when only 19.3 of every 1000 babies were twins. Why, you ask? Older women release more than one egg each month, as do women who use fertility drugs. Another reason for twins is the increased use of in vitro (test tube) fertilization.

Prior to 1900 most non-Jewish males were uncircumcised. The shift toward circumcision in this country was most likely the result of the Victorian obsession with masturbation, reinforced by the 1891 article by the British surgeon James Hutchinson, called “Circumcision as preventative of masturbation.”
